For several great photos of hill turns in the early sixties, see John West's album at [chasingtrains.smugmug.com].

. . . and for a beautiful shot of three hill turns combined into one train heading east from Cumbres to Alamosa, there's one by John at [chasingtrains.smugmug.com] that IMHO could pass for an Ansel Adams photo if the latter had been a railfan.
