Re: Disneyland brake question

I can't comment of the (west coast) Disneyland air brakes, but the (east coast) Disneyworld equipment uses straight air on the trains. Also of note is the fact that the locomotives do not have any brakes at all. When running light, the engines are stopped with the reverse lever and throttle. When I took the behind the scenes tour at DW, the guide told me the brake system was a steam brake (this guy was an engineer also...), that steam was sent down this little 1-1/2" hose all the way to the rear of the train to set the brakes. My first reaction was the only thing they would get at the rear of the train was a slug of warm water. They used some other practices with their steam locomotives, that was rather "different" compared to standard operating procedures.
