Disneyland brake question

January 13, 2018 03:09PM
As mentioned here before, Disneyland apparently uses only a straight-air system on its trains, which puzzles me a bit. My understanding of a straight-air system, as first used by the D&RG and others, was that if a hose parted, the train lost its air brakes. Somehow that seems unthinkable in a modern day amusement park, so what happens at Disneyland if a host comes apart and how is the system different than the straight-air systems of the 1880's?
