Hi Ryan,

I do as many photo charters as anyone and I'm here to tell you that you can capture 90% of the scenes with the 24-120 mm f/4 VR. If I'm in a situation in which I need a one-camera, one-lens set-up, I'll put that lens on the D4 and I'm good. Yes, I typically bring another body with the 70-200 f/4 or f/2.8 (I have both), but quite honestly, most of the keepers come are shot in the 24-85mm range. Of course, I tend to go a little wider than some folks do. I'm not looking for a "here's a train" shot. I'm generally looking for a scene with a train in it. I want some environment in the shot.

A typical kit for me on a charter trip would be as follows:

- D4 with 24-120mm f/4G VR
- D750 with 70-200mm f/4G VR (I often go with the f/4 version because it is half the weight of the 2.8 and still very sharp)
- Wide Angle Zoom (Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G VR or Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G)
- Speedlight SB-910
- CF Travel Tripod
