Interesting discussion thread. My burning question about the D850 is the much discussed improvements in dynamic range. Steam locomotives are kind of the ultimate test for DR and noise. Do you feel you've got more image in the raw with the 850? I've used Canon all my life and there was a LOT of discussion that the D850 sensor specs are better for DR and noise than the most recent 5D mk 3 release. However, impossible to tell with uploaded .jpg images. Your interior cab shot suggests to me that there's a lot of image captured on that sensor!
