I'm with you on the dust thing. I change lenses only indoors or in the car. The Nikons seem to be much more vulnerable to dust than the Canons for some reason. If I change lenses outside, I WILL have dust on the sensor. IT WILL happen. I know guys who shoot Canon and change lenses outdoors all the time. They never clean their sensors and never complain. Maybe the answer is to shoot everything at f/2.8 and stop worrying.
My solution is to either use one camera with the 24-120 f/4 (which is a pro lens and is decent glass, albeit with some odd distortion at 24mm), or to use two bodies....one with the 24-70 or 24-120 and the other with the 70-200 or 80-400. It's heavy, but it works.
