Jerry,
I'd say the preliminary results look like a thumbs-up. I will be interested in your thoughts on the D850. Most camera stores, including large dealers, still don't have a physical sample to show customers.
I currently use a D4 and D750 combo (with an assortment of Nikkor lenses) and may be shopping for a new body this year. I don't really need or want 45 MP with the volume of frames I shoot, but the ability to shoot a reduced size file (20 MP??) for normal work and a high-res file when I want one is intriguing. 9 fps is a little slower than what I have now with the D4, but probably good enough. Have you tried shooting the reduced file size and how do those look at 100%? I have heard conflicting stories. I am also not crazy about Nikon's decision to equip the 850 with one SD slot and one XQD slot. If this is a pro camera, I am wondering why they didn't offer the option for 2 CFs or 2 XQDs, like on the D5? Maybe I just need a D5....or D5s, when it comes out.
Take a walk out on the High Line and show us what that baby can do!
