I was in Antonito December 10 for one of their two Christmas train days (Dec 9 & 10). I ran into Wade Hall who suggested I get some pictures, as Roger Hogan is rather busy with other business. So, glad I brought my good camera and got some pictures. Below is a collection of what I shot:
I got really lucky, with my shot, upper left of Jake & Max, running the 489 (my favorite). Probably my best crew shot ever. Some of the others show the Christmas train running. Middle right shows the Antonito depot, with the US Marines Toys for Tots collection, and about center, the Antonito Food bank collection. I rode the 10AM and 1130AM trains. A lot of people on the train and around the depot. Weather was very nice for this time of year. Mount Blanca had just a tiny bit of snow on top. Back at the beginning of October, it was flat out white. Overnight low in Alamosa was about 5, at a time I expect -20. On the train, it was about 40+. This did not feel like December in the San Louis Valley. Bottom left of the picture, my new truck, near Hangmans.
Just a quick weekend for me. Just a bunch food and toys for the Antonito area thanks to the C&T. It was fun.
