Several years ago, I saw the dredge above Fairplay and talked to the owner(?) about the dredge.
For several years he would give you a hard hat and let you explore it.
When we were there, he said the dredge had deteriorated so much that it was too dangerous to let anybody into it.
That dredge started out on the grasslands south of FairPlay and worked its way up to above FairPlay. Quite a change in altitude.
You can find another dredge outside of Breckenridge that is in even worse condition.
