The initial supplies of uranium for the first two atomic bombs came from the Congo and from northern Canada, not the vanadium mills in the Placerville area. Work on the western Colorado uranium deposits did not start in great earnest until the latter part of the war, and thereafter. As far as radium is concerned, the Uravan area was a major source of the element, however volumes were on the order of grams, not pounds or tons of radium. The article "Atomic Age Narrow Gauge" is a great read about the RGS and uranium.
