I made a statement a few months back that I would like to see some Diesel's operate on the C&Ts during the slow or off season, I have had a change of heart. I have a good friend and Co-worker that wants to take his children on a winters ride, he asked me who is running a steam engine so he can show his children the beauty and raw power of Steam locomotion in action. Since we live in the center of Utah really the closest Train operation is the Heber Valley Railroad, but they have no steam in operation. Great Western 75 looks more like a scrap pile than a rebuild, and Union Pacific 618 still needs more work to change it into an oil burner. The Nevada Northern RR which would be the next closest, in Ely isn't going to run Steam until the first of the year 2018. So the next closest would be the D&S, but now with this Great news, I may have to seek out and see if the Grande Canyon in Williams Arizona is going to run any Steam this 2017 season. Doesn't look good for my friend.......
Still a Student,
Dave
