Re: TVRR combine car arrives at EBT

The TVRR combine did start life as a B&S built coach. No paper trail to confirm original ownership, but very possibly Addison & Northern Pennsylvania. The TVRR was built to three foot gauge to take advantage of the glut of used narrow gauge equipment for sale in the early 1890's. The A&NP was standard gauged in 1893, same time the TVRR was built. The TVRR purchaced two Hinkley 4-4-0's from the A&NP, and possibly two coaches, plus other rolling stock. There were two coaches, similar if not identical, in service on the TVRR in the 1890's. At least one A&NP photo shows a string of cars in the background including coaches that look like the cars on the TVRR.
At some point, one or both coaches were converted to combines. Photos exist showing a combine with windows in the baggage section, and photos showing a blank baggage wall, like the surviving car. No photo has surfaced showing two combines together, so it's uncertain if there were two cars, or one car in two configurations. Also, no photos showing a combine and a remaining car in coach configuration. Not helping is not knowing what actual numbers were assigned to the cars. The 1917 ICC Valuation lists passenger cars 102-104, but we don't know which car carried which number, and, there were four passenger cars.
Its terrific that the car is safe and under roof at the EBT. Possibly, restoration work could reveal the cars real number, and clues as to its origins. The TVRR bought equipment from the A&NP, Eagles Mere, and the Chateagay, plus of course the EBT. Lots of stuff for sale at the time,especially from the Big Level region between Pa and New York, but unless better evidence surfaces, I'm going to stick with the car being ex A&NP.
