Having visited Boulder City and some of the Las Vegas venues during the last year and half, I can attest to the difficulty to travel through Boulder City on the sign route. You look for businesses on your side of the highway because, it is H*** trying to safely make a left turn off or onto the highway. Leaving the museum and going toward downtown Boulder City the route is to go the long way around through the industrial area (several right turns and then a protected left turn).
There is heavy truck traffic from between Las Vegas (and probably points north) and locations in Arizona. I suspect that this has picked up since the bridge was constructed over the river downstream from the dam. This eliminates negotiating the hairpin turns down to the dam.
The new alignment when completed will move the long distance traffic and trucks out of town and make it much more friendly for the tourists and sightseers.
A few months ago I heard that the funding had been obtained from various sources for the architectural design work of the major museum building. After that there will still be the need to source the funding of the construction, etc. of the facility. This building will be located adjacent to the corner where highway 95 makes its turn to and from the dam. This will also put the museum within walking distance of the motels located in Boulder City.

PS If all goes according to plan, I'll be back up in Boulder City this coming weekend enjoying the EUREKA operating at the museum site.
