This thread stirred me up to look through a few of my old Guatemala pix, which in turn got me to trying to figure out the date of my last ride behind steam in Guatemala. Here are two pix that I like.
An effort was made to return IRCA 204 to something close to its appearance as an IRCA engine. I sent some builders photos and the painters did a good but not entirely accurate job. The lettering is not quite right and there is a bit too much white paint. At the time I was very disappointed but years later that has become less important. The engine looks pretty nice.
The date is November 6, 2006 returning from Rancho to Guatemala City. I think this is the last time steam ran in Guatemala, or it may have been only the last time I saw steam run there. Perhaps others can provide more info. 204 is one of the engines in the museum in Guatemala City.
