When were most of the FEGUA steam locomotives scrapped?

December 06, 2017 12:02AM
Hello,
Continuing what will likely be a lifelong study on the steam locomotives of the IRCA/FEGUA, I have come across a hole in my research. From the early 1970s to about the time of Ferrovias Guatemala's formation in 1998 or so, it seems that many of the steam locomotives were scrapped. Were there any peaks in the scrapping of the locomotives? Obviously there was the civil war, but how many were in fact lost during that time? Does anyone know how long the Krupps lasted? Are there any other FEGUA steam locomotives still in Guatemala aside from those in Zacapa and Guatemala City? I remember that someone mentioned a few of the locomotives were sold locally for use as a stationary boilers. Have there ever been any leads as to what happened to them?
Thank you,
John

P.S. In Revelation Video's Centeral Doubles, there was a video from the early 1990s that show 200 being run for a "prospective North American buyer" does anyone know about this and why she remained in Guatemala?
