Interesting, William -
It almost looks like they're painted 'Grande Gold' with a thin black stripe and aluminium roofs – but wouldn't 1941 be way too early for that color scheme on the D&RGW? Is there any chance that they're headed up north of Durango to clear a major slide on the Silverton Branch? Alternatively, what year was the highway between Durango and Silverton widened & paved??
