Re: Sandy River and Rangeley Lake - Eustis Branch question

For the record, in 1904 the Eustis RR successfully petitioned the Maine Railroad Commissioners for permission to build a 5.75-mile extension of their common carrier franchise from Greene's Farm to Stratton (the principal village in Eustis township), but I haven't seen any evidence that the "Stratton extension" was ever built. (Note that this proposed 5.75 miles was not simply the 2.5 miles + 3 miles of the logging spurs to Berlin Mills and Skunk Brook camps, which were on different alignments.) Nonetheless, this is the reason that Greene's Farm sometimes appears as "Stratton Junction" on maps of the SR&RL.
