One of the coolest scenes we have in our 1968 video was made by Ernie of a helper(Rear helper), cutting off of a freight near the water plug at Cumbres on the fly! I guess that made it easier to keep the freight moving for re-assembly and the helper could take water, turn and return to Chama. The Caboose could be left on the main for the EB freight to back onto. Not sure if this was common or not, but I found that interesting, I don't recall the date off hand.
