Andy Payne once said he fired a Farmington turn with the 478 and used every bit of coal in the tender. Actually he could have left a couple of scoops in the tender but he wanted to get back at the Durango hostler.
Andy hired out in August of 1957 so this was toward the end of the oil boom.
