Florence and Cripple Creek #65 *LINK*

To all those that have asked about progress on the F&CC #65, here is the first round of pictures. It's sort of a disorderly mix but more will be added soon to fill out the holes. The museum is working to improve phone and internet access which makes this much easier. Hopefully its completed before the old system dies.
A brief description of the restoration plan is to jack up the roof and roll a new car underneith. After sitting on the ground for 40+ years the entire underframe was rotting. Leakage around the windows has cause major damage to the wall structure, basically the rot had cut thru the entir wall in places. And the trucks, couplers, platforms, trussrods and brakes had been removed on 1929. The liberal application of a cutting torch to the bolts and tierods in 1929, and during the restoration in the early 1970's in conjunction with corrosion in the wood beams have rendered the remaining hardware unseable.
The trucks are from the White Pass and Yukon, the brake system is a K-1-D reservoir and cylinder salvaged from a dismantled car, the truss rods and queen posts are new materials, the turnbuckles are salvage, and the Janney couplers and drawbar components are new castings. We did make the patterns to reproduce these and other required components.
Enjoy the pics and there should be more posted soon.
