Oh, believe me, fog occurs in the Colorado High Country. All fog is, basically, is a cloud at ground level.
As the temperture drops, and it can drop *fast* at high elevations[1], the air can't hold as much water vapor in suspension (relative humidity rises) and, when it gets to a point where the *absolute* humidty is at or near the maximum the air can hold (100% rel. Humidity), you get fog. Most common in Fall, but, like snow, I have seen it in the Gunnison Valley at all times of the year!

[1] One time, back when I lived in Gunnison, I was walking down Tomichi Ave about 30 minutes after sunset and from the time I could make out the time/temp display at GB&T to the time I passed it, the temp dropped 5 degrees F!
