I'm posting a few pics showing the auxiliary water pipe on the 487, 492, and 496. 488 also had this set up. All of these loco's were set up with dual gauge pockets and auxiliary water connections for use on the Valley Line. W499 was commonly used on these runs as a water car but also as a dual gauge idler. Also notice the fork in the pipe below the cab where one line feeds into the locomotive tender and the other fork connects to the pipe that runs to the rear of the tender. You will also see this set up on the Rotaries as well.
