Class 190 (later C-41) engines were built in 1901 as saturated steamers. Some were rebuilt with SH in the 1920's, like the K-27's, this program was not completed.
I don't have the faintest idea as to the status just before conversion of the engines used as part sources for the K-37's, but I'd suspect D&RGW chose ones that had not yet been rebuilt & super heated.
