Deep Thinking----Here comes trouble......

Was looking at some pictures in the DPL digital collections, of the 450 to 464, 2-8-2 (Mudhens) Mikado locomotives of the Denver and Rio Grande Western RR, interesting to note that 462 was never superheated, but ended up with Walschearts Valve Gear and Outboard Piston Valves, similar to the 464 and 463. Could it have been possible that the DRGW had originally planned on Superheating all of the K-27's that they were going to save, but with the creation of the K-37's, could have they taken the superheating units that may have been allocated for the K-27's and used them in the K-37? Its clear on the side of the locomotives that the superheating units were supplied by an outside source as their patent plate is on the outside of the locomotive usually next to the builders plate on the fireman's side. What do you think?
