The shingle mill is a complete mill rescued from probable oblivion, due to one of our volunteers knowing a guy who was executor for another guy's estate (whom the volunteer also knew). We were able to dismantle the mill, plus remove a lot of other cool stuff from a building owned by someone who never threw anything away. The mill has operated briefly at the WW&F, on a flatcar, once we got the motor for it up and running.
We also have parts from two saw mills, but not a complete mill. That will take a bit more work.
Eventually we hope to operate everything by steam. That will take even more work. And we're hoping to get some other group interested in getting this all assembled and operating the mills for us, because that's not our specialty.
At some point in the next few years we will be building a building for the shingle mill at the current end of passenger track, at a location known as Top of the Mountain. The track needs to be extended more, and some trees come down before we can do that.
