Rather than hijack a thread below, I need to ask a question of the experts.
Kelly Anderson mentioned it would be difficult for an EBT Mike to operate elsewhere, due to the longer wheelbase. A little digging online produced a driver wheelbase of 13 foot on the early EBT mikes, and 13.5 on the later ones. How do they compare to say a K 27 or K36 that had smaller drivers?
And before anyone goes off on me for this, COULD an EBT mike operate on say the C&TS, or D &S, or WP&Y? Would the larger driver diameter handcuff them on say a 4% grade? Are they indeed to rigid? The source on the wheelbase mentioned the engines were designed for 16 degree curves, and up to 23 degree curves on wyes, etc.
I'll stay out of the politics and historical accuracy and who owns what, etc, but I'd just like to know what those EBT engines are capable of.
