Yes, track One was just up a few steps but that is not the CZ. In the 1970's and early 1980's Amtrak's Denver-Oakland train was the San Francisco Zephyr (SFZ). Of course by the '80s it might have been called the Everywhere Zephyr, ala the "City of Everywhere."
Track One was usually used by both the SFZ and the RGZ in this era. Track #2 was used by the Grandes's Ski Train (In season) and most of the other tracks only by freight movements passing thru. In fact, IIRC, the outer tracks were disconnected.
I went thru Denver a lot back then.
