Second engine was almost undoubtedly a K-27 in the original photo. Most likely 455. I am all but certain I have seen video, or at least more pictures of this train that shows the helper engine.

That aside, I think the charter was more that acceptable as a RGS train. My brother and I could not stay another day, otherwise we would have bought a single day ticket. The only reason we were there for the departure on the first day, is because we got a flat tire somewhere near Villa Grove on our way home. I We ended up repairing the flat ourselves, and filling the tire in Alamosa. By the time we got the repairs done and had dinner, we decided to get a hotel and go home in the am.

It was hard to leave the "time machine" and return to normal life; but reality doesn't wait for anyone!!!
