I've been there and ridden the Victorian Steam Railway, the tram and the electric railway from Douglas to Laxey. Interesting and somewhat weird coincidence: some of my ancestors were Manx. I now live in Ridgway, Colorado, where I'm vice-president of the Ridgway Railroad Museum, which specializes in the RGS, Ouray branch of the D&RG, and the Silverton Railroad. I live at 9000 feet about 5 miles south of Ridgway, and the big mountain visible just 5 more miles away is Mt. Sneffels - same derivation as Snaefell on Man. Otto Mears planned to build an electric railway through the mountains from Ouray to Ironton in 1892, the same time frame that the Snaefell electric line was built on Man. His plans fell through due to the silver crash of 1893.
One of our life members at the Ridgway museum is a bus driver on the Isle of Man. He comes to Colorado on vacation every year, and always comes for our Ouray County Railroad Days in September.
Looking forward to more photos of IOM railways.
