The first picture is looking up hill toward Mears Jct., at pretty much the exact spot engine 452 left the rails, Monday, October 26, 1903. I am going to change the post heading to include 452 wreck.

My picture is taken from a slightly different angle, with obviously a different camera and different lens. But there are several identifiers in the pic. The engine sat on the slanted hill in the foreground. There is a medium sized rock right above the hill just left of center in my pic . This same rock is evident in the pic of the wreck, sitting just above the back of the tender. We found many fist sized pieces of coal scattered up and down the hill just above this rock (okay, yes I took one). No guarantee these came from the engine, but one can dream!
