I think you are talking about the road that leaves US 50 a bit less than a mile west of the Co 92 turn off and goes down Pine creek to a parking area (actually goes to the base of the damn dam but it's restricted past the parking lot.) This is the old, old highway(pre-1926) btw, the one that crossed the Lake City branch at grade at Lake Jct. From the parking lot, there is some large number of steps down to river level (my daughter, then in her early teens, counted and came up with different number than on the sign, twice! This is the route down to the boat tour of the Morro Point res. You can walk a bit farthur than where the boat tour starts, how far depends on the res level & your tolerance for wading through thick, gooey mud.
When going west on US 50, if you get to the crossing of Pine Creek, you've gone too far.
