A TOUR OF AN HISTORIC NARROW GAUGE 1889 PULLMAN SLEEPER CAR UNDER RESTORATION.
Saturday, September 2: 10 AM - 3PM
Sunday, September 3: 12Noon - 3PM
On your way out of town stop by the Friends of the C&TS COS Work Site, 2333 Steel Drive in Colorado Springs on Saturday, September 2nd from 10am to 3pm. The crew will be working and happy to give you a personal tour. Sunday was added upon your request.
The 1889 Pullman Sleeper is in the 8th year of restoration and is an impressive sight to see. The completed restored car will represent the original 1889 sleeper as it was shipped from the Pullman NG factory in Detroit over transcontinental line completed only a few years earlier. This car, while in the D&RG and D&RGW inventories, is unique having two numbers; originally numbered car 470 as a sleeper and later car 0252 when in MOW service. Its final years of operation were spent as a kitchen/diner for the bridge crew; in 1953 the car was retired at the D&RGW Alamosa shops.
