I was on the regular train all the way from Anonito to Chama on Sunday with 487. 463 was handling the special botany special.
We (the regular train) had numerous unexpected emergency air brake applications both on ascending grades and descending grades. Apparently the crews (they exchange at Osier) thinking that one of the cars was causing the problem and progressively would cut out a different car's brake system after each event. Finally it was thought that it was either the parlor car or maybe more likely the locomotive was the cause. So after the last event we held at the siding at the bottom of the grade and waited for the special. 487 uncoupled and pulled ahead. 463 and train came up and backed into our train. . 487 proceeded us into Chama, 463 did well with the long train.
Monday the regular train to Antonito departed using its same cars as the day before.
