Doug, I totally agree with John, go to a Social Security office where expert help is available. You can even make an appointment with them. I was able to get excellent help from them.

If you are a veteran, go to a Veteran's of Foreign Wars(VFW) Lodge. They have access to advocate's for veteran's disability claims. Very helpful when I visited with them on behalf of my dad.

At some point you have to put yourself before the trains, and take care of yourself first, then later there can be time for trains again!!
