I would contact a law firm that specializes in legal malpractice and see if they would take your case on contingency. It will not help you with your immediate situation, but your attorney hardly provided you with the zealous representation legal ethics requires.

Are you a veteran by chance? The VA is sloooooow to deal with, but if you can find an advocate among the employees, it makes a huge difference. My dad was a vet and was bed ridden before he passed so I had to deal with the VA on his behalf. Found a person who was willing to be his advocate and it was a huge help.
