You may well be correct Como, but I've been travelling to the USA since 1982 and while the roads at home here stay static, I saw on each trip massive expansions in Highways in the most unusual and remote places. I also witnessed that same thing in '78 and '79 on trips around Queensland. I thought that the road between Carson City and Reno was perfectly adequate, on the last trip back there I drove the new 6 lane and had the road almost to myself. I could see 285 across the Great South Park being done.
