Tony, Roger Briggs told me that the sand house has almost burned down more than one time. He said that the Friends have had to replace the roof wood near the sand drier at least two times over the years because the fire was too hot. Last summer John Sutkus and Chuck Deeker replace the green roll roofing on the track side of the building. Now the east side need new roof, but roofing suppliers no longer stock that green color.
