1st Chama Experience - Questions

Hello Members,

I have been on a long 12 day road trip with my best friend for over 5,000 miles and have finally reached the narrow gauge country of Chama. I was also surprised to see snow along the road and hillsides in the middle of July coming south of Pagosa Springs on Hwy 84.

To make this story short, we went down to the rail yards and explored all the open public spaces and the cars for over 2 hours. I have to say it is my first time in a fully functioning narrow gauge railroad yard. It is also my first time smelling the soft Colorado coal coming off of locomotives #463, #488 and #489 and it felt surreal to finally see and to be able to ride behind a living breathing machine. I am excited to be riding on the C&TS tomorrow!

So far I have no complaints of the staff or facilities and love how it stays true to its authentic self and not a gaudy railroad.

We have tickets for the #6 train tomorrow 7/17/17 and I have a few quick questions.

What are your guys favorite spots on the train for the views and seeing the locomotive? Any general tips and information to make the experience better? Is there any forum members going to be present at the C&TS tomorrow? I would like to meet you guys and learn more about the history of this railroad/D&RGW and the Chama region as well.

I have a feeling that I will be back often as this is my newly found love, it is also gorgeous here as well!
