Especially sad for me. I was able to photograph it twice in the 70's and that before
the battery boxes on the power were painted white, they looked really clean back then.
I also made 2 stealth trips in my motorcar there. One was starting at the canal and backing down
to Ferrum and then going east all the way to just past the I-40 overpass. The other included a night trip
from the canal up across the big bridge. I got slides of all of this. David Morgan published one of them
(the train, not the motorcar) in TRAINS and it ended up as a centerspread in one of the 80's issues.
Big time railroading with several U-30Cs in the train. And lest I forget, they started out with 6 motor Baldwins.
