Construction of the 36 is proceeding nicely, but probably won't be completed until this fall. We may not bring it to Ridgway until next spring, depending on a number of factors, one of which is the FRA boiler rule - if we fire it up in late fall, the clock starts, if we wait until next spring, we get another 7 - 8 months before the clock starts. There are other positive factors as well that have nothing to do with the 36 project, we won't have any announcements until contracts are signed, and won't respond to speculation, but stay tuned, we'll inform everyone as soon as we can, please have patience. It will be worth it.
On another note, the Ouray County Ranch History Museum, which has moved into the Ridgway depot, is opening to the public on Father's Day, so railfans will be able to get access to the building for the first time in more than 60 years. At this time there are no railroad exhibits (but the ranch exhibits are very good), but we expect that to change with time. We work very closely with the Ranch History Museum.
Stopping by Ridgway in August will definitely be worthwhile. We have some exciting news coming, and restoration of RGS coach 252 is proceeding well. We replaced the tongue and groove siding and painted it this week, and have completed structural repair of the "Jackson and Sharp" disease. We have a long way to go, but it's solid and looking way better than when it arrived. Anyone have (or have a line on) some correct passenger car trucks?
