Good point John. This is why I do not try faking train sounds on my vintage shows. I have seen too many instances where a railroad(Lets say N&W), has a scene whereby the producer thinks he has the right sounds of an N&W engine, and it turns out to be an L&N engine, with a totally incorrect whistle. Now the viewer thinks he is hearing the real N&W sounds but he is not. Sure it sounds nice having train sounds synced to the films, but when they are faking them, they are changing the historical content in my mind, and leaving folks with the wrong history. I have never seen a production where the sound is listed as this or that, unless its the authentic sound. Sure I could do NG stuff and use current sounds. But how am I to know what whistle 491 had in 1958!!! If I put in audio from todays 484, then some guy who sees it will say here is what 491 sounded like dad!!!! Who will be able to dispute that except some rare guy who has a recording of 491 in 1958!!!! Anyway you get my point. Thoughts!!!!
