That reminds me of one trip on the C&TS I had. We were above Toltec Gorge on the shelf in the rider gon.

The fellow next to me was trying to impress is lady friend. He boisterously announced that the gorge was "a mile down there."

It was all I could do to keep from laughing. From the rim of he Grand Canyon to the Colorado River is one mile. I checked the topo maps and Toltec Gorge is about 400 feet. He was "off by a mile!"
