Seems like they have to change out engines every couple of years. I remember hearing of change-outs about 4-5 years ago also. The B-25J close to here is having a rebuilt engine installed now. It didn't get done in time for the big 75th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid gathering on April 18th. But 12 planes made it, which was quite impressive. Great book I recommend is "Warpath Across The Pacific"
Contains great historical account of the 345th Bomb group from its inception in 1943 to the end of the war in the Pacific. These were all B-25's in the 345th. If you ever see a picture of a plane with the Indian Headress on the tail thats the 345th. They also had wild nose-art like menacing bats, falcons, etc. Reminded me of the flying tigers in China with their P40's. Anyway great book with accounts of all missions, loses, and color middle section showing all the various paint schemes. Personally I like the sound of a B-25 over any of the 4-engine planes. Fifi is coming to Cincinnati this summer, and if its not 105 degrees I might go see it.
