This kitbash was well before our adventure into 1.5" gauge. It has been a long time since I looked at one of the engines with the intentions of narrowing the drive line. IIRC, there are two ways; either build a completely new chassis, or get rid of the drive train, section the center of the existing frame, and put in a new motor / gearbox assembly.
After deciding to go to 1.5" gauge, we determined that the amount of work to do this would be more or less the same as scratch building an engine. And, if you did a kitbash, you are still left with some of the "details" that may or may not be accurate to the engine you wish to model. We still have yet to build a C-16, and that is probably way down the line. However, a nice 223 or 278 would look beautiful pulling a short string of cars through the garden!!!
