Thats terrible news about the depot closing. I take the train about once a week & need a place to hang out and being dead broke means eating my sandwich on the benches & bothering Chris or Tina (I think that was her name) with stupid questions. I just don't have the slightest interest in either visiting the shops (except Fletch's and Outdoor World) and eating a bad $15 burger. Maybe I'll just get totally trashed and start the 4th of July "celebrations" early like us Durangatangs love to do. Maybe if they pull the 493 back up the hill (very unlikely I hear) I could at least get out of the wind in the cab. Nothing to you but for us soft big city folks its good to have a place out of the wind/rain/snow for my noontime nap.
As for Aztec I hate that long stretch of 55 mph on 550. I have noted that the only vehicles that get pulled over have Colorado plates. On the positive note the A&W is always worth a stop and they have a mountain bike race every year called The Alien Run with neat t shirts with an alien on a bicycle. Kinda a crappy course mostly on oil/gas field roads but some nice single track at Alien Canyon. For those of you in the know the UFOs have an affinity for New Mexico. If you really waant to know check out on Youtube the huge UFO base under Archuleta Mesa just to the NE of Dulce.Seven (or it nine) levels of grays and reptilians and shape shifters...and best of all supersonic tunnels radiating over the entire world with special stops in Antartica. It woud be great to skip the long lines at DIA if the price is right.
