Fritz,
Its great to hear you weigh in for REAL mountain living. This week in Durango we had about an inch of snow plus a lot of sleet...the joys of the Rocky Mountain springtime/mud season. Good time to go to Utah for a break. I genuinely admire the fortitude of somebody who can look upon a 6 inch snow storm in May or June or July or August with indifference, or at least not bring out the Glock & shoot everybody in sight. I got married in Silverton (in the old American Legion bar...its a long story) & try to spend as much time as I possibly can there in every season of the year. But...and as both know there are a lot of buts about living in Silverton starting with too many butts fighting with each other.
Next time I see Al I'll tell him to lay off the Silverton Northern. Maybe now that he has put $$$ in the GI he will see the opportunity of encouraging people to stay overnight for other attractions rather than buy a quick funnel cake & head back on the next train.
Only 4 weeks to opening day...speaking of butts instead of being in the official group all decked out in their Victorian finery grab your jean shorts and go greet the train properly. I'll have my camera readyjust in case
