Off topic - Moving to SW Colorado

Hi all.

After wanting to live in the Rockies for years, and a pending divorce, I'm moving to SW Colorado at the end of April. I plan to take about 3 months exploring Durango, Bayfield and Pagosa Springs to determine where I want to settle down (plus some time riding trains of course!). While I love Chama and plan to spend lots of time there, I think it's too small for me, especially in the winter.

I should mention that I'm able to keep my current job (I'm a computer guy working for a startup in Southern California) so looking for work is not a concern (I currently live 9-11 hours from work - another 8 or so hours won't make a difference). I'm looking forward to being more active in the Friends as well as joining the DRHS and RGSHS.

I'm looking to from any residents of those communities (and any other communities other I should consider) to hear the good and bad. What do you like and dislike about the SW Colorado community you live in? Are there any model railroad groups in the area - any scale (especially with a focus on operations)?
