I don't really know all the details, but many years ago when the locomotive was still sitting at Palmer Lake (when there was still a lake) I asked the "railroad group" that owned it, if the locomotive was for sale. They said it was but had not set a firm price, or even if they really wanted to sell it or not. I checked back a few more times and finally gave up.
A few years later it arrived at Black Hawk. It was lettered #71 bacause Black Hawk wanted an old train just like Central City. I think it is owned by the casinos, but I really do not know.
Floyd Cothran did a lot of the funding for the second tourist railroad in Central City, using C&S #71.....and as a result, lost a bunch of money.
