Since the Chili Line RPO and coach were in the consist (and a few times a baggage or extra coaches) from ALA I wonder if this was to facilitate easier switching in Antonito to make up 425? Equipment was also changed out from time to time based on Jimmy's postings. Another question: Does anyone have info on the switch crews or hostler/watchman for Santa Fe during the 30's? After 425 arrived in Santa Fe it would then back to the wye to prepare for the return journey as 426 the next day. I am assuming a watchman kept an eye on the engine while spotted there overnight or on Sunday. Who handled any yard switching that needed to be done in Santa Fe between runs? Did the crew of 425/426 also perform these duties?
