I remember when all this was going on as I was living in Palisade, CO at the time and was between railroad jobs and working at Komac Paint in Grand Jct.. Russ called me and explained that the railroad would probably be short of operating crews during the filming and if I would be interested in helping out where needed...probably as a trainman or fireman on the regular trains. I arranged for the time off and was really looking forward to helping out. I think the idea was to let the regular employees work the movie train (extra $$) and bring in a couple of folks like me to help with the regular trains, which would cover all the jobs and keep everyone happy. Apparently, some of the regular employees were more concerned about outsiders coming in, even if for a short time, than they were about working the movie train.

Russ called me (and others) a few days before I was to arrive and called it off........oh well....
